Call on the UK government to welcome refugees fleeing Ukraine
Since February 24, when Russia’s military entered Ukraine and the bombardment began, more than 2 million people have fled across borders. The UK must ensure that people fleeing Ukraine – including non-Ukrainian nationals– are offered sanctuary in the UK. Are you with us?

Europe must respond to what is happening in its neighbourhood. There have been positive steps to welcome refugees but with the violence increasing across the country, we must do more.
The UK has a responsibility to welcome those seeking safety. Join us in calling on the Home Secretary, Priti Patel, to ensure safe passage for people fleeing Ukraine, and for the UK government to work with other countries so that those fleeing the conflict– including non-Ukrainian nationals– are offered sanctuary in Britain.
The UK can choose to welcome refugees; it’s the right decision to make, and will help so many fleeing terror and violence whose lives have been completely destroyed.

Dear Home Secretary, Since 24 February, when Russia’s military entered Ukraine and the bombardment began, shelling, air strikes and heavy fighting have continued to escalate with devastating consequences. People’s homes have been destroyed. Essential services have been hit. Lives have been lost. The number of people fleeing Ukraine and crossing international borders has increased dramatically. UNHCR reports that 2 million refugees have already fled into neighbouring countries. Poland, Hungary, Moldova, and other European states have rallied to offer a safe haven to those fearing for their lives. With violence continuing to spread across the country, the UN predicts this could fast become the worst humanitarian crisis Europe has seen in decades. As an influential member of the UN and other multilateral groups, and a signatory to the Refugee Convention, the UK has a vital role to play in offering protection and supporting people fleeing conflict to rebuild their lives. We are calling on the Government to: > Ensure safe passage to the UK for all asylum seekers and uphold asylum obligations under international law. > Work with countries neighbouring Ukraine to evacuate and relocate people fleeing conflict, including non-Ukrainian nationals, and offer sanctuary in the UK. > Waive visas and seek flexible and innovative solutions to support people seeking safety. > Invest in reception capacity and quality integration support for all new arrivals. This should include medical and psychological support, including tailored support for women and girls. Yours sincerely, <Your name here>
